Standards Compliance

Design Considerations

TIA Channel performance limits total length of patching and connecting cords to 32 feet per TIA/EIA-568-A.

Typical Specification

The patch cords shall provide Category 5 performance for cross connecting Category 5 equipment and/or backbone cables to high performance Category 5 horizontal cable systems. The patch cords shall be 7/32 24 awg stranded UTP, with a standard 8 position modular plug on each end. The cords shall be available in any length.

The cords must meet the requirements of TIA/EIA-568-A and be assembled per the latest TIA/EIA draft TSB for ‘Transmission Specifications for UTP Patch Cords’. Assembly procedures dictating constant quality management regulated by 100% finished product verification prior to shipment. The manufacturer shall provide a lifetime warranty against defects in material and workmanship.
